This class is for women only. This is a basic self-defense class based on the classic Gracie self-defense. Regardless of age, shape, size, or fitness level, this class has something to offer every woman.
Gracie self-defense is the most effective form of self-defense for women because:
- It relies on leverage and timing rather than strength or speed. The result is that even a petite woman can overcome a much larger and stronger attacker.
- All of the techniques are based on natural body movements, which make them easy to learn and recall when needed.
- These techniques have been approved and used by law enforcement and military personnel.
- The Gracie self-defense techniques taught in this class are those that would be most effective in a real attack situation. The result is that you become more effective at defending yourself in less time.
- While fights start from standing, most go to ground, particularly where the victim is a woman. In addition to learning how to prevent being taken to the ground, students also learn how to effectively defend themselves even with a larger and stronger opponent on top of them. Gracie self defense is based on Gracie Jiu-Jitsu – a ground fighting system.

- After completing the course, some students choose to continue taking the Women’s Self Defense course for another 16 classes to reinforce and fine-tune the techniques they have learned.
- We encourage graduates of the Women’s Self Defense course to attend our Tier 1 Jiu-Jitsu classes, as they now have the foundation needed to excel in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
