Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Tier 1: This class is for adults and teenagers ages 16-17. In this foundation class, students learn the basics of our curriculum from white belt to blue belt which is the first belt promotion. Students with blue belts and above will also benefit from taking this class for further reinforcement. For this reason, we recommend this class to students of all belt levels, but especially the beginning student. Class begins with a light warm-up focusing on exercises that mimic Jiu-jitsu movements to start to build necessary muscle memory and warm up the body for activity. The second part of this class focuses in on one of the lessons from our blue belt curriculum. We follow that up with either some light positional/situational sparring (sometimes with or without gloves and very light contact). Some of the training is done with and without the gi top on (all students male and female are required to wear some kind of rash guard or underarmor under their gi top for hygiene and modesty reasons). That is followed by cool down stretching and we end class by bowing out. A gi (uniform) is required for this class. No gi or experience is required to come in and try out our programs.
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Tier 2: This class is for adults only. In a tier 2 class, students can expect to build upon the basics that they are learning from our Tier 1 classes. All students, both colored belts and white belts are allowed to take this class. The class begins with a more intense warm-up than in our tier 1 classes. After bowing out (1 hour class), this is followed by a 30 min sparring session (optional) which is divided into 5 min. rolling sessions with short rest breaks in between (sometimes with gloves/light striking and sometimes without; no striking). This class is a more intense cardio workout than the Tier 1 class. A gi is required to take this class, but no gi or experience is required to try out our programs (all students male and female are required to wear some kind of rash guard or underarmor under their gi top for hygiene and modest reasons).
BullySafe: This class is for kids (and at least one parent on the mat with the child during class) ages 4-6 years old. In this class, we focus on gross motor skill self-defense movements and games. Your child will be learning how to defend themselves without really knowing it as the lessons are disguised as games. This class builds the foundation for your child to enjoy Gracie Jiu-jitsu for many years to come. This class will build your child’s confidence, gross motor skills, coordination and more! This class is also an excellent way for you as a parent to strengthen your bond with your child and enjoy something together. We also will teach your child how to assertively stand up to bullies using their words and body language. We will also educate the parents on things like “stranger danger tips”, internet safety, home safety, and much more. Come in today and check out a free class with your child. Kids wear gi pants, belt and t-shirts to this class, but no uniform is required to come in and try out any of our programs.
Junior Jiu-Jitsu: This class is for children from the ages of 7-10. In this class, your child will learn the basics of Gracie Jiu Jitsu as well as how to avoid and defend themselves against larger and stronger opponents. This class not only has practical application – as children will learn how to prevent and defend themselves against bullying – but it is also a fun way for children to stay active and become part of a team. We will also educate your child (and parents) on things like internet safety, home safety, street smarts, cyberbullying (and what to do about it). Kids wear gi pants, belt and t-shirts to this class, but no uniform is required to come in and try out any of our programs (all students male and female are required to wear some kind of rash guard or underarmor under their gi top for hygiene and modest reasons).
Young Adult Jiu-jitsu: This class is for kids ages 11-15 years old. In this class, we focus on teaching young adults how to not only defend themselves, but we also talk about real-world issues involving todays youth such as peer-pressure, cyberbullying, stress, and how to be assertive with their words to prevent bullying from having to turn into something physical. But if pushed, your child will also learn the best skills to be able to defend themselves if the need were to arise. This class will build your childs confidence, surround them with other good kids on the same mission, build their fine and gross motor skills, coordination and dexterity. In this class your child will not only gain self-defense skills, but you will be arming them with life skills that will help them in all areas of their lives through their lives. A gi is required to take this class, but no gi or experience is required to try out our programs (all students male and female are required to wear some kind of rash guard or underarmor under their gi top for hygiene and modest reasons).
Women’s Self-Defense: This class is for women and teenage girls ages 13 and up. We teach women how to defend against the most common attacks against women (according to FBI statistics and research). You will learn the best techniques of Gracie Jiu-jitsu for women; the only martial art that is truly based on leverage and timing (not strength or speed), which is why it is perfect for all women of all ages regardless of size or strength. This class will empower you and give you confidence. You should wear comfortable workout clothing to this class.
Judo for Jiu-jitsu: Though we are a self-defense based jiu-jitsu school, when we train on the feet with the gi, striking is often not allowed thus grips, throws and takedown skills are very important to learn. So this class focuses on throws and takedowns off the grip. Also, for students who have an interest in jiu-jitsu competitions (where striking is not allowed), this class will give you an advantage when on your feet. A gi is required to take this class, but no uniform is required to come in and try out any of our programs (all students male and female are required to wear some kind of rash guard or underarmor under their gi top for hygiene and modest reasons).
